A woman accused of killing her husband on New Year’s Day because he wouldn’t get her a beer was indicted Monday on a first-degree murder charge by a Blount County grand jury.

Barbara Jean Perryman, 48, remains in the Blount County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. Perryman, who gave an Old Knoxville Highway address in Maryville, is accused of killing David Shirley Perryman, 47.

Police said Perryman fired a 16-gauge shotgun through a bedroom door of their residence, and the blast struck her husband in the neck. She allegedly & told police she shot her husband because he wouldn’t get her a beer.

Soon after her arrest, Perryman told police she was taking Prozac, an anti- depressant drug that she said makes people do “funny things.”

The grand jury on Monday returned 37 indictments on cases sent to it from Blount County General Sessions courts. Also returned were 10 sealed indictments.

People named in sealed or secret indictments aren’t identified until they are arrested.

Others indicted Monday:

— David W. Armstrong, 32, who gave a Blountville address and is accused of the Dec. 8 burglary of Lowe’s of Maryville Inc. Armstrong was also indicted in(the theft or more than $1,000 in items from that store, and two counts of vandalism stemming from a forced entrance into the business, located on West Lamar Alexander Parkway.

— Todd Turner, 20, who gave a Coral Circle address in Maryville, was charged with the Jan. 22 aggravated assault on Donna Pride. According to the warrant filed in that incident, Pride suffered “disfigurement” to her face and right arm as a result of the assault.

— Theresa Andrews, 32, who gave an East Harper address in Maryville, was(indicted in a Jan. 10 incident in which she allegedly tried to cut Walter Hannum.

— William C. Tilson, 41, who gave a Hiawassee Avenue address in Knoxville, and 41-year-old Thomas M. Morgan, who gave a McConnell Road address in Greenback, were indicted on charges of possession of burglary tools in connection with a Jan. 6 arrest.

— Richard T. Magness, 32, who gave a Little River Road, Rockford, address, is accused of two counts of burglary and one count of theft in connection with!the Christmas Day theft of items from a Nails Creek Road resident’s car and garage.

— Lowell Trent Ogle, 29, who gave a Brown School Road address, is charged!with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with a Jan. 20 incident where he allegedly cut Carl Rodney Ogle on the side of his head with a pocketknife, and also cut Lisa Yeaman on the side of her face.

— Carl Wesley Carter, 32, Old Niles Ferry Road, Greenback, was named in(six indictments accusing him of theft. Those incidents allegedly occurred between September and November.

Several people were indicted on drunken-driving charges, including Melanie!Ann Hopkins, 29, who gave an Athens, Tenn., address; Joel Kevin Waters, 21, who listed his address as Sevierville Road, Maryville; Michael Lee McGinnis, 29, who gave Sequoyah Avenue in Maryville as his address; Gary L. Alspach, 50,!who gave a White Pine Lane address in Rockford; Dallas Ray Moffitt, 37, who!listed his address as Morganton Road, Maryville; Charlsie Roberta Chambers, 52, who gave an Old Knoxville Highway, Maryville, address; Henry Mark.Willocks, 19, who lists Morganton Road, Maryville, as his address, alsocharged with disregarding a stop sign; Rebecca C. Nutter, 24, Knoxville;!Clarence D. Reeder, 64, who lists his address as McCarther Road, Maryville, second offense; Penny Sue Devine, 40, who gave South Old Glory Road, Maryville, as her address; Steven Ray Wolfe, 37, who listed McGinley, Maryville, as his address, Robert Earl Curry, 43, who gave a Dry Valley Road+address in Townsend; and Frank John Borbeck, 29, who listed his address as South Heritage in Maryville.

Jimmy Lynn Williams, 35, who gave a Marble Hill Road address in Friendsville, was indicted on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Michael Anderson Gredig, 32, who listed his address as Alnwick Boulevard, Maryville, was indicted on his third charge of driving on a revoked driver’s license.
